Summary: | Researches on natural fiber composites have been growing in recent years. Researchers started considering natural fiber which meet the design criteria but also environmentally friendly and cheaper than synthetic fiber. Bamboo fiber is one of the alternatives. In this research, bamboo fiber typed Gigantochloa apus is used extensively. The main goal of the research was to determine the characteristics of the interfacial bonding between the bamboo fiber and its epoxy resin in a composite system using the tensile test <br />

Key words: bamboo fiber, natural composites, interfacial bonding. . Finite element method was used as a comparison. The results showed that there were high stress concentratios in the edge of the bonding, which lead to interfacial debonding failure. The research also showed that the minimum length of the bamboo fiber necessary in order to avoid interfacial debonding failure was 10 mm. |
