Summary:Industrial development may be able to increase economic growth and to create job opportunities, but is also very potential to cause environment damage. PT Z is a plant that produces soysauce, flour and sauce with actual capacity of 22.600 ton/year for soysauce, 457 ton/year for sauce, and 287 kg/year for flour.The activity produces wastewater at about 61 m3/day. The COD resulted from each of the production process is in different characteristic, which makes the wastewater channel divided into strong and weak wastewater channel. Strong wastewater has pH of about 4, COD of about 35000 mg/L, and TSS of about 1500 mg/L and weak wastewater has pH of about 5, COD of about 7000 mg/L and TSS of about 400 mg/L. The high organic material concentration is not supported by proper wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), therefore, the WWTP s performance evaluation which was held in 2006 showed that the efficiency of COD removal was poor, resulting in higher effluent COD than how it was expected (200 mg/L). Based on those facts, it was decided to redesign WWTP which produces effluent with pollutant concentration which fulfills the second group of standard regulation reffering to Keputusan Gubernur Kepala Daerah Tingkat I Jawa Barat tentang Baku Mutu Limbah Cair bagi Kegiatan Industri di Jawa Barat Nomor 6 Tahun 1999. The treatment system which will be used in PT Z consist of physical and biological treatment. Sedimentation and dissolved air flotation will be the physical treatment, while the biological treatment used two stage anerobic submerged filter (fixed bed) contain of acidogenesis and methanogenesis reactor and aerobic activated sludge. The system mentioned should reach the number of COD removal efficiency up to 99% <br />
