Summary: | Oil refining process produces residual gas. These gases are usually toxic, and if released into the environment would threaten human health around. Therefore, the gas is usually burned in order to change the gas into intoxic gases. But the effect of combustion is air pollution. In addition to air pollution, flare gas is energy waste. This energy can be reused as fuel with further process. The process needed to be able take advantage of the flare gas recovery is
compressed the gas to high pressure (28 bar), then its cooled from 212.3 oC to 15oC. In addition to these two processes, this gas also experiencing separation process, but the focus of research here is the equipment sizing for cooling systems. The cooling process occurs 2 times, first cooled by air until the temperature reaches 60oC, and then with water until the temperature reaches 15oC.
