Summary: | The developing issue within employers today is that companies need human resources who possess working skills or readiness to work. Workers with skill are required and considered as a valuable human capital asset for the company. College student and early career workers can benefit from continual leadership development in order to prepare for the business world and their first foray into the challenging world of leading others. Related to the phenomenon today, students need the ability to adapt in order to be successful through their early career. Researcher develops a research to show the link between leadership experiences acquired from student organizations with workplace adaptation for the newcomers. The method used in this research is qualitative research method, in specification to phenomenology. In-depth interview is the main data collection method in this study. Overall, there are 15 documents that are taken into account for data analysis. Ten documents are in the form of in-depth interview transcripts; two documents are in the form of field notes that are gathered from observation; and three documents are personal opinion regarding the issue of this study. The research concludes that there are various factors creates due linkages between the leadership experience at student organization and the adaptation during early career. In this regard those factors related to the leadership experience at student organization and adaptation during early career as stated in this research question is the following: in student organization (motivation and personal character); result from student organization, beneficial for early career (managerial functions, network building, and self-leadership). The conceptual model that yields from this study has successfully answered the research question and achieves the objectives. |
