Summary: | SIR model is a simple model of an infectious disease spreadness. In this model, the population is assumed to be divided into 3 groups, Suscepted , Infected , and Recovered . The usefulness of constructing this model is we can predict whether the disease will spread severely or not, thus we can use this prediction as a consideration to decide the preventive and anticipation action that should be taken. To do so, is by finding out the amount of people on each group when the system has reached the steady state. This problem is called asymptotic value problem. But it is not easy to solve this problem analytically and get the solution in explicit form. Linear delay differential equation with constant coefficient is one form of differential equation problem. Solving a linear delay differential equation problem is not as easy as solving an ordinary differential equation problem. There are few method to solve it, but most of them are not practical and hard to be applied. Lambert-W function, a function that has not been well-known yet, but it has been used to solve many problem from various field of study. Lambert-W function will be used to solve asymptotic value problem of SIR model and linear delay differential equation with constant coefficient in easier way and more practical to use than other methods. |
