One of the positive impacts of the developments in information technology is the emergence of the digital office concept, in which an office no longer has a rigid spatial definition and can exist entirely on the network. Electronic mail services become the main foundation in digital office, which ideally should have a paperless information transaction system. Push e-mail is a value-added service of the e-mailing system which functions as a method of accessing data on mailboxes by using push technology. So far, push e-mail services is mostly implemented on high-end devices with device-specific properties. These barriers leads to the currently limited application of the push e-mail services. In this Final Project, a push e-mail service system will be designed and implemented with generic properties that can be applied in as wide a range of mobile devices as possible. In addition, the design will also be modular, which means that it can stand as an independent system with as little dependence as possible on other systems. This Final Project will be consisted of the design and implementation of a mail server, a data synchronization server, and a client-side application. Necessary network configurations will also be done for the system to run well. Testing will be done by performing an electronic mail transaction between the mail server and the mobile device by using push e-mail service.
