As a supporting material, zeolite micropores may provide a wide space for metal catalyst to seat in. In this study, a solution of iron (III) was impregnated into the pores of MFI zeolite nanosheet crystal. MFI zeolite nanosheet was synthesized hydrothermally using diquaternary ammonium ions as a structure directing agent (SDA). Ion exchange of sodium cation with proton in zeolite framework (HZSM-5) was done prior to metal impregnation. The resulting zeolites were characterized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), IR spectroscopy and CO-Temperature-Programmed Reduction (TPR). The synthesis results show that there is a mixture of MFI zeolite nanosheet, MTW zeolite, and alpha-quartz. MFI zeolite with

conventional crystal morphology was also synthesized for comparison. This zeolite was also impregnated with 5 wt% of iron. The composition of iron in the impregnated zeolite

measured by EDX is 6,89%. TPR analysis with carbon monoxide as reducing gas found that the Fe2O3/HZSM-5 nanosheet and Fe2O3/HZSM-5 conventional readily reduced at 517oC and 608oC respectively. Both zeolites are ready as catalyst precursor for Fischer-Tropsch reaction. text
