AVO analysis generaly uses assumption that the reservoir thickness is relatively thick compared to seismic wave length. But the natural frequency has limitations especially for a deep reservoir. Study of AVO for thin layer reservoir is relatively minor, on the other hand analysis for thin layer reservoir is important because many reservoirs are not thick enough. Thin layers are catagorized as having a thickness less than ¼ wavelength which seismically thin layers cannot be resolved. However, such thin layers might be significant reservoirs or important flow units within reservoirs. This concept is useful in seismic interpretation, especially when structural mapping is a primary concern. The concept is also important in studies of unconformity, fluid contact, reserve estimation, in which accurate interpretation of physical interfaces is the key to success in exploration and development field. This thesis shows the phenomenon of reflection of elastic waves which considering interference and tramsmission effects of thin layer reservoir. I applied Zoeppritz equation for modeling reflected wave of top reservoir, reflected wave of bottom reservoir, and also transmission elastic wave of reservoir. Results show that the phenomena of AVO in thin layer reservoir are frequency dependent. For the thin-bed layer reservoir, AVO analysis has two main factors, First is the tuning effects affect the AVO variation and Second is seismic wave attenuation in reservoir media is closely related with the frequency. AVO respon for thin layer reservoirs are different when comparing with thick layer reservoir. so we shoul pay attention when analyzing and processing AVO, because presence of thin layer reservoir may cause inaccurate reservoir characteriztion. text
