Summary: | Maintenance is all actions taken to keep the machinery or equipment can be operated in accordance with specified standards of achievement. One of maintenance types is proactive maintenance. Proactive maintenance is a treatment that applies advance technology, investigative, and corrective technology in order to find the root causes of any machinery or equipment problems. One of the basic techniques in proactive maintenance is Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).

Currently, there are many methods of RCFA. Each RCFA method has its own application procedure and principles. Therefore, discussion and comparison of RCFA methods are needed to determine the advantages and disadvantages of each.

RCFA methods which were discussed and compared in this research were the methods commonly used to analyze the causes of failure. These methods were Fishbone Diagram, Why Diagram, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, Expert Opinion, Storytelling Method, and Reality Charting. There were ten criteria of comparison that was used to compare the RCFA methods in this research. After comparison process done, some conclusions of the comparison were gotten. |
