Summary: | Producing oil and gas from offshore and deepwater by means of pipelines has gained a tremendous benefit in the energy industry in the past ten years. Along with it, offshore pipeline installation process has become a vitally important topic. Because before its service on offshore, the pipeline should always pass through the installation process. The occured pipe stress during installation should be analyzed, in such way, until the occured pipe stress does not have bad impact to the service. <br />

In this final project, we analyze pipe stress of offshore pipeline installation by S-lay method and optimize stinger radius which appropriate to code and standard. Pipe stress calculation process will be performed by Offpipe Version 2.04 software, by involving Seaway Polaris lay barge. Pipe stress data result will be evaluated by DNV OS F101 and API RP 1111. In order to ease in analyzing, a new calculation sheet that was capable to process Offpipe stress data result was developed. From the analysis of DNV OS F101, it is concluded that the highest stress (where takes place at lay barge) exceeds load resistance design criteria (yielding) and buckling criteria. Same result also performed by the analysis of API RP 1111, which the highest stress exceeds the longitudinal load criteria (yielding) and buckling criteria. Meanwhile, the stinger radius which appropriates to the DNV OS F101 is 691.89 feet and stinger radius which appropriates to the API RP 1111 is 784.10feet. |
