Heating element that is currently sold in the market such as MoSi2 are quite expensive and low mechanical properties. SiC has a properties suitable to be used as an alternative. In this research, SiC material made of hibiscus wood impregnated with waterglass and then clacined. With hibiscus wood as a source of carbon and waterglass as a source of silica and simple synthesis process expected to lower production costs. Waterglass concentration and calcination temperature varied to determine the effect of the synthesis. The higher the concentration and calcination temperature the more SiC material that synthesized, samples with optimum yield obtained at 0.5 M concentration of waterglass and calcination temperature 1300oC, the sample resistivity decreases with increasing SiC which synthesized. By using the vacuum impregnation method the solution of silica impregnasi can penetrate up to in the carbon template size 1.5 cm diameter. text
