Summary: | In recent years this outstanding global issues of environmental and energy sources. Both topics are interrelated. The first issue; air pollution is the presence of one or more physical substance, chemical, or biological in the atmosphere in the amount that can cause harmful effects to human health, acid rain, greenhouse effect, ozone layer destruction, and others. Issue to two; to the present needs of the world's fuel continues to rise, but fossil fuel reserves in various countries will be decreasing, while the world's oil reserves are running low. To be able to get out of these problems in need of a specific innovation, among them looking for alternative fuels as a substitute for mineral fuels. One alternative fuel which has the potential to overcome these problems is biofuels. Pure Plant Oils (PPO) (Oil: Jatropha curcas, Coconut/Copra, Coconut oil), is an alternative to diesel fuel. PPO has several advantages that the content of the exhaust emissions of HC and CO is low. But there are drawbacks PPO, viscosity, calorific value, and its volatility is lower than diesel. This is what causes the fuel carburetion be inhibited resulting in decreased engine power and engine damage arising deposit.

For this thesis, experimental laboratories in implementing in the Motor Fuel and Propulsion Systems ITB. Motor used is a diesel motor; low speed, single cylinder, 6 HP, 650 rpm, the volume of 1432 liters, Indirect Injection system. For fuel heating system, earlier in the review, in comparison, in the analysis, there are four alternative options, to the four it was; Shirron brazed plate heat exchangers, Cooling System Motorcycle, Motorcycle Exhaust, Change Over Valve (COV). Earlier in doing testing relating to the influence of temperature on the viscosity / density fuel oils (oils; Jatropha curcas, coconut/copra and palm oil). Measurements will be undertaken, among others; Effect of heating an area to the fuel temperature. By using three types of biofuels, in the measure; Brake Mean Effective Pressure (BMEP) against the Brake Specific Fuel Consumption (BSFC), BMEP of Brake Thermal Efficiency (BET).

From the results of the analysis is known that warming temperatures PPO, for each alternative produce; Shirron brazed plate = 65.5 oC, water cooling engine = 75 oC, the engine exhaust pipe = 70 oC, Heater plug (COV) = 85 oC. The selected model is a plug Heater (COV). In testing at the Lab, the channel on the heater plug (COV) with a depth of 64 mm is the most high-ability PPOnya heats. BSFC that produced relatively low, this indicates the performance of the motor is more economical. Advantages of using the heater plug (COV) is; components are easy to obtain, can be made yourself or simply in a small workshop. |
