Summary: | Water vessel’s technology has been developing rapidly in the last century. Many kinds of water vessels have been developed in time to time. Their use also gained a rapid development. Their main use which are previously limited for transportation, varied as human quriousity of sea and it’s potention increases. One of te water vessel that has a spesific use is an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV). AUV mostly are used for the need of underwater research or inspection on underwater infrastructure which is hard or dangerous to be done by man.
Thruster is an integral part of a ship or a submarine. The purpose of hruster existance is to produce thrust to move and increase manuverability of the submarine. Every submarine which is produced has a different propulsion
requirement, regarding the variation of shape, dimension and operating condition. To gain a maximum efficiency, the propulsion system of a submarine should be integrally designed according the shape of the submarine which will
be propelled. Ideally, every submarine series which is produced has an unique propulsion system. This final project focused on the design of the main component of thruster, including propeller, journal bearing, and permanent magnet which will be used as a magnetic coupling to enable the isolation of electric mootr from the water. A certain testing will be done to see the performance of the thruster. |
