Several products need special plastic characteristics, such as high tensile strength and vacuum packaging. This characteristics can be obtained by combining several type of plastic into one sheet. One of the machine that can produce this kind of plastic is extrusion-lamination machine. This final project contains the design of one of the extrusion-lamination machine’s unit, which is rewinder unit. Rewinder plays role as a winder of the laminated plastic. In the making of this final project, Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FMAE) – Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) <br /> <br /> <br /> colaborating with PT Norita Flexindo located on Cileungsi, Bogor, West Java. the rewinder designed have to fulfil several criteria, that is having a mechanism to swap the airshaft without shuting down the machine, able to support a load until 1 ton, and able to rewind material with 1200 mm width. From these criteria, the design made with consideration of the bearing used, the life of the bearing, motor selection, and power transmission selection. Up to now, the production process of this rewinder unit has not been begun because of the limited space on the workshop and the limited resources. However, this final project still equiped with the technical drawing and production process planning so it can help PT Norita Flexindo when they want to begin the process. text
