Sperms were obtained mostly from the epididymis or the caudal part of epididymis except for the morphological data; sperm of the testis were also used. The results showed that the number of epididymal sperm are 5.37 million and 1.67 million (31%) are located in the caudal part of epididymis. Sperm of the testis are T-shape, the acrosome is located on the medio-dorsal side of the head with a cytoplasmic droplet on the neck. Two shapes of the epididymal sperm were obtained, T-shape and spear-shape, the acrosome is button-shape and overlies the dorsal part of the sperm head, with one end reaching the anterior side of the sperm head, the neck is inserted into a groove located on the ventral side of the sperm head. Mitochondrial helix, which is characteristic for the midpiece, is unwrapped at the anterior part but the posterior part is wrapped with a plasma membrane invaginated with longitudinal grooves. The length of the sperm is 90.50 approximately 0.71 pm. Two motility patterns could be observed, the spear-shape sperm move in a circle and the T-shape sperm move progressively by rotating the head. 4.75% of the sperm could be maintained for 7.5 hrs in DMEM at 35 degree C. Sperm cryopreservation was still unsuccessful due to the unsuitable cryoprotectant in this experiment. text
