Summary: | THE COORDINATION OF TRAFFIC LIGHT CONTROL (Case Study : The intersection of Jl. Gajah Mada – J1.Surapati – J1.Hayam Wuruk Denpasar Municipal); Putu Kwintaryana Winaya, 2000, Bidang Khusus Rekayasa Transportasi, Program Studi Teknik Sipil, Program Pasca-sarjana, ITB. In urban areas the problem of transportation increases greatly and coordinating traffic lights at intersections is one of the ways to reduce the problem. The purpose of this research is to coordinate traffic light on Jl. Gajah Mada – Jl. Surapati – JI. Hayam Wuruk and the streets consist of <br />
five intersections forming arterial area, where from the first intersection to the fourth intersection the flow is on one direction while the fourth to the fifth is two directions. The coordination of traffic light at intersections used a TRANSYT and an Offset Optimation Program. Both programs need an input data where the data obtained from the survey of the location and some data are obtained from secondary data. The output of both programs cannot be compared to each other because the use of flow input is different. TRANSYT Program will give output before and after coordination, Performance Index (PI) are changed in the morning, afternoon and evening : -16,45%, -64,96% and – 86,05, the delay : - 16, 73%, -65,53% and -86,56%, the number of stops : -13,70%, - 14,49% and -39,26% and the average speed : 9,4%, 123,07% and 233,33%. Output of TRANSYT and Offset Optimation Program will give offset value so that the intersections can be coordinated. Besides those program results in the changes of travel time before and after the coordination, in TRANSYT Program the change happening in the morning, afternoon and evening are -37.6%, -42.5% and -27,1%, while in offset optimation Program is -29.0%, -27.1% and -27.1%. TRANSYT Program can be optimised, such as the recondinition of cycle time that give a minimum performance index. The other optimisation is to look for the optimum cycle time, and in study the optimum cycle time in the morning, afternoon and evening is 100, 200 and 90 seconds |
