‘SIMPLESurveillance’ application is an application used in surveillance system. This application has the same function with conventional surveillance system, which is monitoring a room by using capture device and then saving the result of monitoring into the file. SIMPLESurveillance application is suitable for being implemented in the storage room and in the house whose inhabitants (called users) often leave their valuable belongings. SIMPLESurveillance application allows user in remote area for knowing the safety of their belongings left in a room. User in remote area will obtain a notification (warning about detection of intruder in coverage area). Notification can be an e-mail with attachment(s) which include the picture of intruder in <br /> <br /> <br /> coverage area. Another advantage of using SIMPLESurveillance application is the less memory used to save the result of monitoring because this surveillance <br /> <br /> <br /> system only save the result of monitoring whenever system detects an intruder in coverage area. SIMPLESurveillance application works in Java 2 Standard Edition platform and uses webcam which has affordable price than another capture <br /> <br /> <br /> device. This application provides the features such as detects intruder in coverage area, saves data as the result of monitoring into JPEG format file, and also gives <br /> <br /> <br /> notification to user in remote area. The method to detect the existence of intruder in coverage area is by observation of object motion and the period of time the <br /> <br /> <br /> intruder in coverage area, and then the system run the algorithm to decide whether there’s an intruder in coverage area or not. In implementation of this surveillance system, SIMPLESurveillance application need a server connected to internet network. Server is a device where the application runs. Server also is also used to save the result of monitoring.
