Summary: | Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Directorate as new institution merged from several technical institutions/UPT, has crucial role as a back bone of UPI toward good corporate university governance. As new established institution, ICT Directorate faces difficulty in human resources since not all the UPT employees have sufficient knowledge needed in information technology. The knowledge management (KM) application is aimed to bridge the knowledge-gap among ICT Directorate employees. The KM implementation will be differ from one organization to another, this is due to the fact that the characteristic of KM is unique, which means the condition of one organization will influence the KM strategy. Therefore, before doing the KM implementation, a prior orientation must be conducted in order to find out the factual condition of the organization. One of it is to have knowledge audit. Basically, knowledge audit must be able to answer questions such as “What kind of knowledge that already exist, which knowledge is forgotten, who needs this knowledge, and how they can use this knowledge? <br />

Research method used in the knowledge audit in ICT Directorate is qualitative method based on main work and function of ICT Directorate. The research instrument used is questioner which is consist of open-ended questions, the sample of research are 24 people from 41 ICT Directorate employees. The result of knowledge audit showed that there are divisions in ICT Directorate, whom are not aware of the knowledge needed and still have knowledge-gap, approximately they do not know almost half of the whole supposed knowledge. Basically, the employees of ICT Directorate are used to share knowledge; one of the indicators is that the knowledge source which is choosen as priority to discover the knowledge. Furthermore, the result of knowledge audit also indicated that there are form of shared knowledge that have to be aware, “speech command” and “giving examples” have to formalized in order to change into tacit knowledge Based on the result of knowledge audit, ICT Directorate has to prepare KM strategy which is eligible with environmental condition, supported policy, so that this KM implementation will establish in accordance with the expectation and objectives stated. To maintain the ICT Directorate employees habit in sharing knowledge, some supporting activities must be created, for instance is activity which can build community of practice (CoP) and facilitated activity like knowledge cafe. |
