Description
Summary:Ground Penetrating Radar or GPR is one kind of method that is often used

for survey purposes or subsurface measurement. GPR can be used ranging from

underground mapping, the search for mines, detection of cracks and crannies

beneath the surface of the earth, until the detection of building structure. There are

two types of GPR data acquisition methods, namely surface and borehole

methods. Of these two methods, surface methods are the most frequently used

because it’s practical, easy, fast and relatively cheap.

This final project will be mainly discussed of how to use the surface GPR

method to detect buried objects. Objects that are used are perfect conductor metal

in the form of cube and cylinder. Measurement will be performed on two different

media types, beach sand and river sand. Measurement will be done on beach sand

medium using GPRSCAN while on the river sand medium using Georadar.

Measurement were undertaken to and B-scan image of each object. The data

obtained will then be processed first using MATLAB. The data processing results

will be compared between the two types of objects such as those mentioned above

either on the same medium or in medium variant.

Results of research on this final project is to explain how to use the GPR

method to take a measure in a real situation and compare the results of image

processing for two different objects on two different types of medium.
