Forward Modeling is one method for finding models that are used as substance to make the inversion of data so we can get data that are similar to real data. This Rayleigh wave modeling aims is to find out the characteristics of the soil being measured. Rayleigh waves are seismic waves that are forme...

This Rayleigh wave modeling aims is to find out the characteristics of the soil being measured. Rayleigh waves are seismic waves that are formed from the combination of two waves which is one wave interact with another wave, ie the P wave and S wave. Rayleigh surface wave is a dominant wave in the seismic data recorder that spread of the energy in all directions (spherical distribution in a homogeneous medium). It’s because that Rayleigh wave has greater energy and it’s spread geometrically lower than body waves. To obtain enough valid data in forward modeling using the Rayleigh equation, there are several parameters that must be met, including the thickness parameter, density, S wave velocity, frequency and offset. In this forward modeling method, the P wave velocity has no effect, this P wave velocity will only be used in the inversion method. text
