PT. De Lions is a joint venture company between recognized group from local company and a multinational company which has had experience more than 142 years <br /> <br /> <br /> in modern retail business. In this business PT. De Lions choose supermarket format, which is providing various daily requirement of household for middle class family in Indonesia. This company has vision to be Indonesian public choice supermarket and becomes top three rank companies in modern retail service feeder at every main town in Indonesia. <br /> <br /> <br /> Almost every year PT. De Lions is always faced with demand gambol problem during seasonal period. Seasonal is the time when Moslem follower majority in Indonesia implements fasting religious service and Idul Fitri. The main problems faced by PT. De Lions now relate to product supply process and limitation of inventory <br /> <br /> <br /> repository during seasonal takes place. <br /> <br /> <br /> To overcome problem lacking of inventory during seasonal period, nowadays PT. De Lions make decision to submit an order process to suppliers approximately two months before seasonal takes place. In doing order, PT. De Lions now applies conventional method by using assumption of annual sales growth as comparison to <br /> <br /> <br /> make planning and setting inventory during seasonal. <br /> <br /> <br /> This research tries to give an improvement method. In general, improvement will be done in two ways. Firstly by using Newsvendor method to get number of optimal order to maximize profit. Second by using crossdock strategy to decrease number of non seasonal products inventories to accommodate seasonal products inventories so that PT. De Lions not necessary to provide additional warehouse facility during the seasonal period. <br /> <br /> <br /> By implementation of newsvendor method during seasonal PT. De Lions can get total estimate gain Rp. 171,134,720 or rising equal to 5.45% compared with conventional method, while by using crossdock strategy PT. De Lions can remove warehouse rent expense equal to Rp. 510,000,000, hence total gain from overall method <br /> <br /> <br /> (Newsvendor and Crossdock) will be equal to Rp. 681,134,720 or rising equal to 21.70% compared with conventional method. Those result is very significant if it is compared with PT. De Lions average monthly margin from sales in 2008 which was only equal to 13.52%
