Automotive industry is pushed to the limit to develop a much more efficient technology to reduce both fuel consumption and emission. Putting technologies to the engine requires equal advancement in the fuel quality. That is why the petrochemical industry works closely with the automotive industry to meet the fuel requirement. <br /> <br /> <br /> One of the many proposed solutions for meeting advanced technology in engine is the use of fuel additives. <br /> <br /> <br /> This goal of this final assignment is to successfully determine the effects of diesel fuel additives on stationary operation. Before analyzing and comparing <br /> <br /> <br /> the result, this final assignment will cover the basic theories for fuel and additive, which is important to understand the results of the evaluation. The test will be conducted for four different diesel fuel additives, each <br /> <br /> <br /> treated to Solar diesel fuel with different treat rates. The type of the test operation is stationary using diesel-powered generator to produce several load conditions. <br /> <br /> <br /> The effect of different types of additives yield different results in fuel economy depending on its load and treat rate. Significant savings mostly occurred at maximum load conditions. The highest saving is produced by TA-4 diesel fuel additive when treated double its recommended treat rate, reaching 12,8%. The optimal use of fuel additives hopefully will reduce the world’s energy consumption significantly. text |
