Description
Summary:Supply chain management has been one of company’s major concerns in order to increase its competitiveness. The most important process in supply chain management is inventory control process. Its method has been developed by researchers for a long time. The early method is known as partial method. It is solved by optimizing the performance of each entity in the system. However, this method lack of sytem optimality due to no coordination among entities. To overcome this problem, the integrated method has been developed which assure the optimality of system. This method requires good coordination and unlimited information sharing. In the real world, it is very difficult to share information between companies due to secrecy. Therefore, a new method has been introduced which based on multi agent system. This new method could make the performance of supply chain system more optimal eventhough with limited information sharing.

Negotiation capability is a requirement that must be fulfilled by every agent in the multi agent system. It must be done through a certain mechanism or protocol. This research discusses about the mechanism and protocol of negotiation in multi agent system for three echelon supply chain i.e. one producer, many distributors, and many retailers. The methodology consists of preliminary study, problem formulation, research purpose, literature review, boundary judgement and asumption, inventrory system design based on multi agent system, analysis of real system, development of negotiation model, design of multi agent system, verification, validation, and analysis of result.

Beside the negotiation model, this research also developed computer program of multi agent system. It can be used to run the negotiation process automatically. From the trial, the model output indicates that inventory control based on multi agent system is better than partial method. It can be seen from paired t test result of system output (cost and profit). The total cost in multi agent system is lower than partial system significantly. Moreover, it also produces a higher profit.
