Description
Summary:Palm oil is a vegetable oil which can be used as alternative fuel for diesel engine. The disadvantages are the high viscosity and palm oil is edible oil. The

viscosity can be reduced by doing preheating or blend it with other fuel. This test is conducted to determine the effects of using preheated and blended 50% pure palm oil-diesel fuel as diesel engine fuel.

This test is performed within 17 hours for each fuel and refered to SAE Paper 942010. The fuels are preheated and blended 50% pure palm oil-diesel fuel and unheated diesel fuel as benchmark.

Result of the test, 50% pure palm oil-diesel fuel has worse performance (BSFC are higher 8,16%) and exhaust gas emissions. 50% pure palm oil-diesel fuel has higher deposit formation than diesel fuel, however it does not clogue the

nosel. 50% Pure Palm Oil has spray visual characteristic similar as diesel fuel. However, 50% Pure Palm Oil lubricates the components better than diesel fuel.
