Extrusion lamination is a process of coating materials such as plastic, paper, and aluminum sheets with extruded polyethylene or polypropylene sheets. This process is used to add coating to produce stronger sheets and protect printed surface from scratches. Extrusion-lamination machine consists of several processing units, namely extrusion unit, lamination unit, unwinder unit, and rewinder unit. The focus of this final project is the design of lamination unit. This research work is the result of collaboration between Bandung Institute of <br /> <br /> <br /> Technology and PT. Norita Flexindo. Lamination unit consists of several components that will exert pressure to the laminated sheets. These components are the chiller roll, press roll mechanism, which includes silicon press and backup roll, pneumatic cylinder, out-feed mechanism, and directing roll. The lamination unit is designed to accommodate plastic sheets with 1,2 m wide (maximum), and it is equipped with press roll and out-feed mechanisms. This document covers construction design and engineering analysis, e.g., drive motor calculation, gearbox selection, bearing lifetime calculation, directing roll design, and out-feed mechanism design. The document also includes technical drawing and manufacturing process planning. Therefore, this final project will facilitate PT Norita Flexindo in the manufacturing of the extrusion-lamination machine. text
