Description
Summary:There are two types of care in health insurance offered by insurance companies, namely, in-patient treatment and out-patient treatment. The data analyzed in this final project (or skripsi) are out-patient treatment data of the male policyholders of an insurance company, namely PQR, for underwriting year 2008. The data consists of claim numbers and claim severity of drugs or medicines, modeled using parametric distributions; and claim severity of doctor‟s consultation fee, modeled using empirical distribution. After the distributions of those random variables are obtained, the distributions of the aggregate loss of the costs of drugs or medicines and doctor‟s consultation fee are determined using compound models. From the obtained distributions of the aggregate loss, risk premiums for the cost of medicines and doctor‟s consultations fee are obtained using the standard deviation principle. The risk premiums are calculated both theoretically and using simulation. It is found that both approaches give similar results.
