Summary: | Separation of sucrose and reducing sugars (glucose and fructose) will improve the efficiency of the enzymatic hydrolysis process of sucrose. In this study, separation of a solution containing a mixture of sucrose and reducing sugars was conducted using a separating material made from cellulose acetate-chitosan. To obtain an adequate separating materials, variations in type and quantity was carried out. Two kinds of crosslinker were use (glutaric acid and adipic acid), and cross-linker quantity was varied to 0.15 g and 0.30 g insynthesis at two temperature variations (25oC and 40oC). Performance of synthesized materials was determined by comparingthe eluate concentration with initial concentration. The experiment shows that the separating material with0.30 g of glutaric acid cross-linker added in synthesis mixture at 40 oC temperature results in a better interaction between the analyte and separating material. SEM- EDX observation confirmed the existence of trapped analytes in the pores of the separating material. |
