Summary:Indonesia is a country that is prone to natural disaster, such as earthquake, volcano eruption, landslide, and tsunami. Regions that are located in the coastal areas are potentially affected by the tsunami disaster. Padang is a coastal plain region and it is also an area that have a highly vulnerability to the tsunami disaster. Therefore, to reduce that vulnerability, we conduct the research on two scenarios of evacuation process, there are horizontal evacuation scenario and vertical evacuation scenario. The scenario of horizontal evacuation is not possible to be implemented in Padang because it takes a long time and is constrained by the capacity of shelters. The scenario of vertical evacuation is still possible to be implemented. In this Final Project we determine the additional capacity of existing buildings to ensure the evacuation can be held in fifteen minutes. The result of this Final Project can be used by the authorities in Padang in anticipating tsunami disaster impact.
