It affects on the increasing demand of fuel supply for operational of heavy equipment units in the field. Meanwhile, the capacity of existing fuel truck unit is considered not sufficient to meet the needs, so it needs the addition of fuel trucks units with several alternative such as made a modifications of dump trucks that are not used, rented fuel trucks to the contractor, or purchase a new fuel truck. In this final project, an alternative to modify unused Volvo A35C dump truck units with change the dump body into fuel tank is discussed. These modifications began with conceptual design phase including the development and selection of several design alternatives, followed by a more detailed design by referring to the criteria of Australian Standard 2809.1 and 2809.2. After selecting the selection design that meets the criteria, the design is continued with a feasibility analysis, that includes technical aspects at static and dynamic stability analysis, and feasibility analysis of economic aspects. Based on the results of analysis it can be concluded it is feasible to modify dumpbody into fuel tank with a volume capacity of 30983 L, stability angle of 54,2o and the total mass of the bogie axle 38757 kg. In the static condition the truck will be skid on the wet earth road with critical slope 28,8o, while the safe speed limit during turning is 15 km/hour to avoid truck skid and rollover. Based on the result of economic feasibility analysis, the modifications alternative is more feasible compared with the option of rental or purchase a new fuel truck. text |
