DEVELOPING PRIMARY AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY BUSINESS PROCESS BASED ON EQUIS AND COBIT

Nowadays, education in Indonesia must face the globalization challenges. Local schools in Indonesia must compete with foreign schools. When demanded to give the best performance in the competition, education in Indonesia could not give good performance. Business process is a critical factor to the quality of performance, besides human resources,physical resources, quality control, and information availability. Without good plan of business process, the actualization of process like resource management, information, and quality control will not be effective and efficient. <br /> <br /> <br /> School’s performance is influenced by academic activities as main function and support function like Information Technology (IT), Financial, Facility, Human Resource, and Marketing. In this final project, the analysis begins with Academic function, and then continues to one support function, the IT function. This final project also does a case study in IT function from School of Business and Management Institute of Technology Bandung (SBM ITB). From the analysis, is known that the performance from IT function in SBM ITB <br /> <br /> <br /> has not yet optimal, caused by ineffective business process. In this final project, business process for higher education that complied with international standard is designed. This business process will help IT function from SBM ITB and other schools to achieve its vision as world class school. This business process use <br /> <br /> <br /> international standards like European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) and Control Objectives for Information and related Technology (COBIT) as guidance. This business process is named as Integrated Business Process for Education System (IBEST). To implement IBEST, a good implementation plan is needed. IBEST could be implemented with parallel approach, where the old business process and the new one are used together until decided to switch completely to the new business process. The implementation of IBEST also needs a full commitment from top management, socialization, two way <br /> <br /> <br /> communication, training, and resources. <br />
