Description
Summary:Seismic Inversion Method has been applied by geophysicist to predict the subsurface model for decades. This method is an advanced seismic interpretation to provide a better subsurface image from its impedance. So far, the available inversion methods (such as Band-limited, Model-based, Sparse Spike, EI, EEI, LMR, and simultaneous inversion) are deterministic inversion.

The output of deterministic inversion is an estimation of impedance value, which is relatively smooth. Therefore, the result obtained cannot resolve the vertical resolution in tuning thickness, and not suitable for reservoir characterization. In other hand, stochastic seismic inversion is a seismic inversion method which generates more than one solution (realization) of impedance model. From the realizations, it can be used for reservoir modeling, by quantifying the probability of the impedance value.

From the research of stochastic seismic inversion, the relationship between deterministic inversion and stochastic inversion has been analyzed. The application for synthetic data is tested, and furthermore it is applied for the real data. The result of this research proves that reservoir characterization can be more

optimal, and also what factors influence the inversion result.
