This technology is very important because it can be used in various industry such as aerospace, medical equipment, automotive industry, making miniature products, and making jewelry such as diamonds. <br /> <br /> <br /> This research studies about the design of microactuator based-piezoelectric that can be used as actuator for micromachining. Designing is applied to microactuator components and microcontoller. The components of microactuator are actuator (piezoelectric), booster device, isolator, diode bridge, strain gauge, the input signal actuator, boost converter, and transformer. <br /> <br /> <br /> The actuators which were used in this experiment are the piezoelectric disc type and piezoelectric stack type. Voltages were given to piezoelectric in order to produce a displacement that will drive the microactuator device. Isolator is needed to avoid short-circuit when the piezoelectric was attached to the microactuator device. The transformator which is used to produce electricity were connected to the diode bridge so that the output could be converted to DC. A PWM input signal is connected to the boost converter. Strain gauge sensors which can detect small strains, ie milistrain (&#949;x10-3), are used. The piezoelectric characteristics and its programming algorithms were obtained from this test. text
