During operation, a keyphasor optical sensor needs a power supply. The optical sensor power supplies commonly available cannot display the value of rotational speed. In <br /> <br /> <br /> this case, a data acquisition and a laptop computer are needed to obtain the value of rotational speed. This condition causes the use of optical sensors impractical especially in field measurement. This research develops an optical sensor power supply capable of displaying the value of rotational speed and capable of dividing the output signal from an optical sensor. <br /> <br /> <br /> The development process of optical sensor power supply consists of hardware and software developments. The hardware development involves design and manufacturing <br /> <br /> <br /> microcontroller circuit, the buffer circuit, the voltage divider circuit and the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) lay out. The software development involves of the program development for calculating the value of rotational speed. Once the prototype ready, it is the being tested. The tests consist of simulation test using signal generator, real system test using DC motor, and battery capability test. <br /> <br /> <br /> The product of this research is an optical sensor power supply capable of measuring rotational speed from 1 rpm up to 30.000 rpm with error smaller than 0,5% and capable of <br /> <br /> <br /> conditioning the output signal from an optical sensor without any disturbance caused by the microcontroller circuit. In addition, this power supply is also equipped with a voltage divider circuit which is able to divide the output signal from an optical sensor ten times smaller than the original signal. The results of testing show that this optical sensor power supply works properly according to the design specification. text
