Summary: | The demand of compact antenna increases rapidly since size of telecommunication components are getting smaller. Therefore, a microstrip-patch antenna based on metamaterials as solution of the demand is proposed in this final project. In this work, Composite Right-Left Handed (CRLH) Transmission Line (TL) approach is used to design microstrip-patch antenna based on metamaterials. The proposed antenna using FR4-HF Epoxy substrate operates at 2.3 GHz. The process of antenna design is carried out using 3-Dimensions software (3D software). <br />

Characteristics of microstrip-patch antenna based on metamaterials are studied by its characteristics comparison with the conventional antenna, either via simulation or measurement. The analyzed characteristics include antenna dimension, return loss (S11), VSWR, bandwidth, radiation pattern, gain and polarization. It is shown that the proposed antenna can achieve the size reduction approximately up to 65 % compared to the conventional one. |
