Summary:Corrosion is reaction that happened between metal or its alloy with its environment and form as corrosion product. One of method used to protect metal from corrosion is by coating, which has function to reduce its corrosion rate. Zinc represent the metal which is a lot of used by metal coating. Generally, the method that used to produce the galvanic stell is by hot dip and electroplating. <br /> <br /> <br /> Zinc coating of galvanic steel products result from continuous hot dip galvanizing process which existed in market, have different corrosion resistance. There are three sample representing result of continuous hot dip galvanizing with different process, that are NOF (Non Oxidizing Furnace), Conventional and Semi Conventional. In order to know cause of the difference of quality hence corrosion test have conducted which using of salt spray method with NaCl 5%. Ball impact test have accomplished to measure the bonding of zinc coating to its base metal. <br /> <br /> <br /> Result of salt spray test showed that higher corrosion rate and lower live time for conventional and semi conventional sample compare to NOF (Non Oxidizing Furnace) sample. Mechanic test using ball impact test give a result that lower bonding of zinc coating to its base metal for conventional sample product compare to semi conventional and NOF sample product.
