Summary: | This final project is one part of a series of studies conducted on the elastomers in Engineering Design Center (EDC) ITB. Elastomers, which are both natural rubber and synthetic rubber is one of the many types of materials used in equipment and industrial machinery. Therefore, it

would require a more in-depth knowledge about the nature and characteristics of elastomer material.

The task of this research is about testing the mechanical properties and material characteristics of natural rubber NR (Natural Rubber) and modification of natural rubber NR +. A simple tensile test is conducted at three levels of a different strain rate of 0.001 / s, 0.01 / s and 0.1 / s. Besides that, this final project also includes the study of Jorgen Bergstrom literature for compression test to see the influence of strain rate and the composition of carbon in a mixture of natural rubber.

From the test results and the literature it is known that strain rate and composition of carbon as a filler material can affect the mechanical properties of materials observed. |
