Description
Summary:The transmission of oil and natural gas offshore pipeline has been using many advantages to the energy industry over a period of several decades past. Along with that, the installation of underwater pipes became a very important thing. Because before operating off the coast, each pipeline which will be used to go through the installation phase. During this stage, the pipe will experience stresses that need to be analyzed, so that stresses do not interfere the transmission process.

In this research, the author conducted the effect of pipe parameters against the total stress occurred and depth of the installation that can be achieved. The selected parameters such as, wall thickness of pipe, the material grade of pip, the diameter of the pipe, the pipe tensioner stress given during installation, and the thickness of concrete coating that used. As a case study, it will be perfomed analysis the process of installation that be done for the export pipeline in the West Seno using the configuration of the S-lay method. Pipe stress calculations was performed using the software,Offpipe. The total stress that generated then will be evaluated based on criteria contained in DNV OS F101 and API RP 1111.

Increasing of pipe wall thickness, grade of materials used, and concrete coating thickness result an increasing in total stress that will occur and decrease the depth of installation for the region of sagbend and overbend. Increasing of grade materials result an increasing in total stress that will occur but improves the depth of installation. Major changes in diameter are not much affected. The maximum depth for a shallow sea is 518 meters. From the case study in West Seno export pipeline, the installation can be done up to a maximum depth of 469 meters.
