Therefore, further research must <br /> <br /> <br /> be done about rubber in Indonesia to be able to study the nature and characteristics of elastomeric material. <br /> <br /> <br /> This study is the first step of a series of research on the rubber. Things done in this study is to examine the natural rubber NR and synthetic rubber NBR. The testing consisted of five kinds of tests, namely monotonic tension, relaxation test, the upload-unload, upload-unload + relaxations, and cyclic loading. <br /> <br /> <br /> The test results showed in stress and strain curve of the elastomer material being tested. Then, from this curve will be analyzed the behavior of elastomeric material and studied the phenomena that occur. Based on the test results can be seen the phenomena occur, such as stress relaxation, hysteresis, and stress softening (Mullin’s effect). Both the natural rubber NR and synthetic rubber NBR tested have a dependence on time and strain rate. So we can conclude that the two materials tested belong to the viscoelastic material. Expected from the results of this test, can be done numerical modeling and finite element that can predict the occurrence of the fatigue phenomenon of machone components made of rubber. text
