Description
Summary:Nowadays, fuel has became the main needs for human and industries around the world. As time goes, the technology of combustion and engine emission, especially cars, has developed rapidly. Too bad in Indonesia, the quality of the fuel that sells in the market can’t keep up with the greener technology that available in cars. In this research, the performance of the gasoline engine fuel pump will be analyzed in function of fuel temperature. The design concept of the testing equipment is taken from the SAE 1537 Validation Testing of Electric Fuel Pumps for Gasoline Fuel Injection Systems Standard ,especially in fuel pump hot fuel handling section. The test proceeds for as long as 24 hours for each fuel temperature level. There are 3 testing temperature which intended to show the performance drop in each of the temperature level. From the testing, the significant fuel pump performance drop was obtained. Compared with the initial performance, the fuel pump which operated in high fuel temperature failed. The failure was signified by 20% pressure drop and 70% flow drop. Thus, can be concluded that fuel temperature is crucial for the lifespan of fuel pumps
