Retno Gumilang Dewi, MEnv.Eng.Sc., TONY Indonesia Theses INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/17444 The discussion on the development of PV project in Indonesia raises important question about how Indonesian solar companies implement their business model in promoting PV technology. This thesis aims to identify existing business model implemented by Indonesian solar companies with its associated business environment and identify potential business models in the future either in an improve business environment or business as usual environment, in which there is no improvement for the business environment. This study surveys some of the current issues related to Indonesian solar companies, such as their business history, business activities and operating environment, and perspectives on the importance of policy and regulation on their business. The discussion of the thesis demonstrates that Indonesian solar companies generally have a similar business model in practice. They mostly focus in the downstream of PV value chain. In Indonesian case, most of solar companies are integrating their activities in integrating PV systems, producing BOS for SHS (inverter, battery box, and mounting structure), distributing PV systems and products and installing PV system. In other words, the value of the bundle of products and services the solar companies offers its customers does not differentiate itself from the one of the competitor‘s. The business model focuses on supply and installation of PV systems. End user is mostly the owner, e.g.government institutions who also provide full funding for the PV system or private sectors (such as telecommunication providers). The source of financing for the solar companies came from own investment, or a combination of own investment and bank. The results of the analyses performed in this project show that the government policy is still the main driver for market development in Indonesia and will remains for the next upcoming years. The thesis proposes to implement PPA model should there is availability or unavailability of government intervention. While the retailer sales/lending/credit model and incorporating into new constructions model is proposed if there is government intervention. <br /> text |
