The main cause of Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion was because of the presence of microbe in everywhere. The damage that caused by microbial activity is more dangerous due to the damage morphology, which is pitting corrosion. <br />

The research was conducted to compare the damage that caused by iron oxidating bacteria and by sulphate reducing bacteria. Both types of bacteria were chosen because this both bacteria were the common bacteria that involved in Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion in metals. This research has three parameters, types of bacteria, time, and the existence of beneficial biofilm. The beneficial biofilm method in prevent Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion was new method. Time parameter that chosen for this research were one and three weeks. The bacteria types are both Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans which is Iron oxidating Bacteria and Desulfovibrio piger which is Sulphate Reducing Bacteria. For the last parameter is the existence of beneficial biofilm by Bacillus subtilis. The main indicator in this research was the weight loss from the specimen. The product of corrosion then characterized by XRD method and the damage morphology by SEM method. <br />

The biggest amount of weight loss is produced by the specimen that immersed to Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans medium without biofilm of Bacillus subtilis in three weeks <br />

period with 1.1654 gram. On the other hand, the smallest amount of weight loss is produced by the specimen that immersed to Desulfovibrio piger with biofilm of Bacillus subtilis in one weeks period with only 0.3686 gram. desulfovibrio piger`s activity tend to create pitting <br />
