determining the success to predict overpressure in oil and gas drilling activity. The methods used in this research are based on wireline log data analysis which consists of
gamma ray log, sonic log, density log, and neutron log together with cross-plot analysis between the parameters of the wireline logs. Results of the analysis show that the ovepressure in the research area is caused by unloading mechanism as a result of clay mineral diagenesis. This process transformed smectite to illite and illite to kaolinite due to temperature which reached the ideal
condition to transformed the minerals. The process produced fluid as a result of the reaction. The overpressure in the research area occurs at depths beginning from 4,000 ft, except at Besitang-1 well, where it begins to occur at the depth of 1,413 ft. It is distributed in Baong Formation, which is dominated by clay which has low permeability. |
