MOLECULAR IMPRINTED HYDROGEL POLYMER FOR GLUCOSE AND FRUCTOSE SEPARATION

Molecular imprinted hydrogel polymer (MIHP) is a three-dimensional structure of hydrophilic polymeric gel in which specific size cavity was formed when template molecule was released. This gel could be encountered in colloidal form in water as dispersing phase. MIHP in this research was synthesized...

This gel could be encountered in colloidal form in water as dispersing phase. MIHP in this research was synthesized from acrylamide monomer cross-linked with bis-acrylamide. Variation of glucose or fructose as template molecule was used to compare the performance of MIHP. Size-exclusion chromatography method was used to measure the performance of MIHP in separation of a solution containg of a mixture of glucose and fructose (50:50 %w/w). MIHP chopped finely was placed in a column of 30-cm length and 1-cm inner diameter. Concentration of fructose and glucose in each fraction in microtubes was determined using Saliwanoff and DNS methods, respectively. text
