Summary:Diffusion is strongly related to the concentration gradient and particle flux. From Fick's First Law, the flux of substance can be calculated from the concentration gradient. Concentration gradient can be represented in electrical potential gradient. A number of instruments are needed to measure the potential, including electrometer, microelectrode, micromanipulator, and control module. The function of control module is to give potential to the micromanipulator in order to shift the electrode to certain position. Subsequently, the microelectrode then measures the total potential at that point. These days, software development for the microelectrode motion control and reading has been developed significantly. Obviously, the utilization of computer will ease the microelectrode motion control and reading process. The result obtained from this process is also more accurate compared to the result obtained from manual measurement.
