Summary: | Catastrophic event especially earthquake may cause a great financial losses. Catastrophe modelling can be used to measure such losses. In this final project report, the magnitude of earthquake mainshocks in Megathrust Mid 2 Sumatera (0.128 LU 5.418 LS, 97.298 BT 101.947 BT) and Megathrust Java (5.979 LS 13.6 LS, 104.029 BT 114.829 BT) is modeled using a probabilistic model, namely Generalized Pareto distribution (GPD). The goodness of fit tests are carried out using Kolmogorov Smirnov test, Anderson Darling test, and Cramer von-Mises test. With = 5% significance level, and a threshold value of 5.4, the Cramer von-Mises test showed that the magnitude of the earthquake mainshocks in Megathrust Mid 2 Sumatera can be modeled by a Generalized Pareto distribution with= 0:14447 and = 0:30891.
