170000-175000 mE and 9151500- 9155500 mS (WGS84, UTM Zone 49S), within 20km2 area (4x5 km) in 1:12.500 map scale. The purpose of the research is to understand the geological setting of this area, including the deployment of lithology, structural geology, geomorphology, at the end we can understand the geological history of the area. Physiographicaly the research area is belonging to Southern Mountain Zone.
Based on general analysis of landscape at the study area. The hilly and valley morphology was resulted by exogenous and endogenous process such as deformation, erosion and deposition. Based on morphology, the research area can be divided into three geomorphological units, those are Folded Hills Unit, Folded and Faulted Valley Unit, and Intrusion Hill Unit. River flow patterns in the research area in general those are, trellis river flow pattern which is controlled by fold and fracture, rectangular river flow pattern and dendritic river flow pattern also found. Based on the field mapping, the litology on the research area consist of piroclastic rocks, basaltic lava, sedimentary rocks, and andesite intrusion. Geological history of the research area was started when volcanic activity occurred, which is characterized by deposition of Tuf-Basaltic Unit at Deep Marine environment in Oligocene-Early Miocene. In the Middle Miocene, deformation
occurs in the research area, which is followed by intrusion of andesite. Then, at Late Miocene-Early Pliocene, Standstones Unit was deposited unconformably above the older units in the neritic environment. In the end of Pliosen, uplift process was occurred . Volcanic activity occured in research area on Plio-Pleistocene and deposited Breccia Unit which is deposited unconformably above Sandstones Unit at terrestrial environment. The process of weathering and erosion occur until now thus forming the morphology now. |
