However, the research which is related to limestone is very <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> rarely to do in this area, so that geological mapping and limestone facies study was <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> undertaken in that area. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The research area is dominated by karst hills, which are characterized by <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> pepino hills, cave, and underground river. Besides that, in the research area can be <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> seen cuesta hills, volcanic hills, intrusion hill, and alluvial plain. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Research area consists of six rock units. The first unit is tuff unit which is the <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> oldest rock in the research area aged Late Oligocene - Early Miocene. Next, andesite <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> unit has formed which is presented from a feeder dyke then intrude the oldest unit, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> tuff and become a lava in surface. After that, depositional process continue to the <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> deposition of massive limestone unit unconformably which is onlapped on tuff unit, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> this unit aged Middle Miocene and deposited in lagoon to platform margin. Then, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> deposition of bedded limestone unit is occured at Middle Miocene in slope - toe of <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> slope environments. After that, at Late Miocene - Early Pliocene, the deposition of <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> marl - limestone unit is occured in deep shelf environment. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The first deformation is occured locally after deposition of marl - limestone <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> unit, resulting the normal faults in the research area. Then, the second deformation is <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> occured during Plio - Pleistocene, which is categorized as regional deformation and <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> resulting a reactivation of normal faults to strike-slip faults in the research area. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> During Pleistocene - Recent, exogenous processes, such as weathering, erosion, and <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> dissolution still ongoing, so that controlled the morphology formation of the research <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> area until like now which is followed by deposition of Alluvial Unit with fluvial <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> depositional mechanism. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Limestone facies on the research area consists of four facies, which is related <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> to the depositional environment, namely platform interior open marine facies, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> platform margin facies, slope - toe of slope facies, and deep shelf facies.
