research of limestone. However, the research which is related to limestone is very

rarely to do in this area, so that geological mapping and limestone facies study was

undertaken in that area.

The research area is dominated by karst hills, which are characterized by

pepino hills, cave, and underground river. Besides that, in the research area can be

seen cuesta hills, volcanic hills, intrusion hill, and alluvial plain.

Research area consists of six rock units. The first unit is tuff unit which is the

oldest rock in the research area aged Late Oligocene - Early Miocene. Next, andesite

unit has formed which is presented from a feeder dyke then intrude the oldest unit,
tuff and become a lava in surface. After that, depositional process continue to the

deposition of massive limestone unit unconformably which is onlapped on tuff unit,
this unit aged Middle Miocene and deposited in lagoon to platform margin. Then,

deposition of bedded limestone unit is occured at Middle Miocene in slope - toe of
slope environments. After that, at Late Miocene - Early Pliocene, the deposition of

marl - limestone unit is occured in deep shelf environment.

The first deformation is occured locally after deposition of marl - limestone
unit, resulting the normal faults in the research area. Then, the second deformation is

occured during Plio - Pleistocene, which is categorized as regional deformation and

resulting a reactivation of normal faults to strike-slip faults in the research area.

During Pleistocene - Recent, exogenous processes, such as weathering, erosion, and
dissolution still ongoing, so that controlled the morphology formation of the research
area until like now which is followed by deposition of Alluvial Unit with fluvial
depositional mechanism.

Limestone facies on the research area consists of four facies, which is related

to the depositional environment, namely platform interior open marine facies,

platform margin facies, slope - toe of slope facies, and deep shelf facies. Carbonate
platform type of research area is isolated platform . |
