Description
Summary:One of the important rock mechanic characteristics that influence the mining slope stability is the shear strength of the rock mass. A proper direct shear test is needed to ensure the parameter affecting of mining slope stability, so that the mining slope geometry calculation will be more accurated. Therefore the large-scale direct shear test is carried out. In this research, large-scale direct shear test is applied for four different sizes of rock samples such as, 25 cm x 25 cm x 20 cm, 50 cm x 50 cm x 30 cm, 75

cm x 75 cm x 50 cm, 100 cm x 100 cm x 60 cm with using three types of rocks namely sandstone, green sandstone, and mudstone. There are three to four samples of each size of rocks has been tested. This research shows that there is no scale effect of internal friction angle values (...). The internal friction angle values tend to be varied along with the larger of shear area.
