Pangkajene is one district that is located in the Makassar Strait beach and coastal area which is susceptible to changes in the physical environment of coastal areas is due to economic activities. The district have some developments and lead to some <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> change in land use every years. Land use change should be sought not to sacrifice the public interest, do not interfere with each other land uses, fulfilling the principle of sustainability, upholding fairness, and in accordance with the land use plan. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of land use changes by displaying the visualization of land use changes and land use suitability with the land use plan in <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> the form of a map. The method used in this research is to processing spatial data and textual data. Spatial data processing is by Geographic Information System (GIS) software and textual data with summary method. The results of data processing are map of land use change, map of land use suitability, and the documents that support the analysis. Result of land use changes map in 2010-2012 showed that of 5.93 Ha land use or 0.13% of the total area of the District Pangkajene have changes. The changes in land use that occurred in 2010-2012 is the conversion of agricultural land into settlements, where land-use change for 5.67 Ha does not suit with the land use plan. Land use in 2012 that suit with the land use plan is 2595.29hectares or 56.82% of the total area of the District Pangkajene. Suitability of land use should be improved so in order to interfere with the local development plan. Improved land use suitability can be done with some policy.
