Morphology of this area is divided into four geomorphology units.

Banyuresmi Fault-block Ridge Unit is characterized by scarp from Banyuresmi

Village continuous to the west of research area. Manglayang Volcanic Cones Unit is

characterized by slope break or countour pattern change that occur in study area.

Manglayang Lava Flow Ridge Unit which is lava settles in the south Manglayang

characterized by tight contur pattern that shows on ridge morphology. Manglayang

Plain Unit characterized by a different slope from the previous units which is

moderately steep based on van Zuidam classification. The Stratigraphy of this area is

divided into three units of lithostratigraphy. The following are sorted from the oldest

to the youngest, those are: Enstantite Basalt – Pyroclastic Breccia Unit, Augite Basalt

– Pyroclastic Breccia Unit, and also Aegirine-Augite Basalt – Pyroclastic Breccia

Unit. Based on regional geology map, research area consist of young quaternary

volcanic rocks.

Geological history start at Holocene, magmatism activity occurs that breaks

through old volcanic rocks between Bandung-Sumedang. This causes the volcanic

rocks formed from magma that has a basaltic composition which named Enstantite

Basalt – Pyroclastic Breccia Unit. After Enstantite Basalt – Pyroclastic Breccia Unit

is formed, a process that forms volcanic landslide in northern Manglayang Volcano.

Volcanic activity then continued until Augite Basalt – Pyroclastic Breccia Unit

formed. This unit became the main cone on Manglayang Volcano. The last unit,

Aegirine-Augite Basalt – Pyroclastic Breccia Unit, formed due to ongoing process of

magmatism. |
